How Panic Disorders Can Be Safely And Effectively Treated
Panic disorders are conditions in which the patient finds themselves suffering repeated panic attacks. These attacks can be frequent, or they can be few and far between. They can also be mild and relatively innocuous, or they can be severe, and genuinely frightening to both the sufferer and those witnessing the attacks. The exact causes of the syndrome remain largely unknown, but what it sure is that the cause of one attack is likely to be the cause of others. Unless a cause can be found somewhere within the mind of the patient, the problem is likely to keep recurring.
The increased incidence of panic attacks is likely to have a root cause in environmental and societal factors. There is no doubt that the increased pace of life puts pressure on people which can lead to panic, and there is also no doubt that environmental pollutants can aggravate the condition considerably. Whether they can be a root cause is much harder to assess. Anything which causes a chemical disturbance within the body is a potential cause for emotional problems.
There are many medical practitioners who try to treat panic disorder with synthetic drugs, with mixed success. Drugs which affect the pathways of the brain can be used to treat both panic attacks and the related illness of depression. It is by no means certain that any individual drug will work with a certain case of panic symptoms, but there are some drugs which have shown promising results. They should be seen as a temporary help, but they are often being prescribed as a long term solution.
This will inevitably lead to side effects, and in the end the drug will not be as effective in any case. The body will adjust to the dose of the drug, and larger doses will be needed. If drugs are seen a short term way of handling the condition, other more natural methods can be introduced to try to reduce the symptoms in the long term. This can include relaxation exercises, which are always a good idea as there are no risks or side effects, naturally occurring plant based remedies, and behavioral therapy. All have shown promising levels of success.
There are more therapies than ever which claim to be able to treat panic disorders. Some have a proven record of success, while others are very much at the experimental stage. The best action you can possibly take is to use the Internet as a research tool, and join forums where fellow sufferers congregate. Not only will you find invaluable support, you will also learn from the experiences of other people who have tried certain solutions. There is no one perfect answer for everyone, but many therapies which have shown promise at combating panic disorders.
